 Thumbelina

“There was once a very delicate and graceful little maiden.

She was scarcely half as long as a thumb, and she was called Thumbelina. ”

---Hans Christian Anderson

She was born of a flower. and called roses her home.

With the first ray of sunlight peeping through layers of colors, an enchanting microcosm comes to life.

ODYSSEUS

Odysseus came home to Ithaca, finally.

but, With time and distance traveled,

differences, gaps and frictions mingled with the comfort and familiarity of Home Coming.

Bygones are of no return.

Alice

“How nice it would be if we could only get through into …..glass…..!

I’m sure it’s got, oh! such beautiful things in it ”

---Lewis Carroll

Gulliver

I winked at my own littleness,

as people do at their own faults

---Jonathan Swift

About Cindy

Introduction by Houston Chronicle, 9/18/2022 (Sunday edition), Art & Exhibits:

Houston’s Cindy Shung from Webster city worker to promising artist

Cindy grew up in Taiwan and calls Texas home now. With diverse background, she embraces the world with open mind and curiosity. Cindy’s approach towards photography reflects her independent and adventurous spirit.

James Turrell’s concept of “LIGHT and SPACE” awoke her hibernating artistic instinct to experiment light with roses and glasses.

When the reality wilts under macro lens, shades and shapes transform to surreal storylines. Her  photography, instead of being the epilogue of  events, is the prologue of  fictitious expressions and boundless imagination.

W. Blake perceived a world in a grain of sand and heaven in a flower. Cindy’s  mind where memory mingles with fantasy and reality converses with emotion, composes the unique universe she sees and believes.

In the world we live in, TRUTH is only what one chooses to believe.
